Welcome to Year 3!
Your class teacher is Miss Mulcrow and your T.A.s are Mrs White and Mrs Bevan.
In Year Three we aim to develop thinking skills and creativity through a mixture of independent learning and problem solving activities. We decorate our classrooms at the start of each topic to engage the children’s interest in their learning, and we enjoy showing our amazing work on our displays. We also go on exciting day trips, have school visitors and complete an ‘innovate project’ at the end of each topic. Our topic this term is Tribal Tales, where we will be exploring history, from the Stone Age to the Iron Age.
We develop pupils’ confidence throughout the year through class assemblies, our Christmas production and participation in various sporting events and competitions.
We have P.E. every Thursday, so please make sure you have your kits!
Children leave Year 3 with a secure understanding of the basic skills – times tables, key spellings, reading comprehension and handwriting.
Reading is very important, and we hope that you will enjoy reading with your child at least three times every week. Reading regularly will improve:
• Reading attainment and writing ability;
• Text comprehension and grammar;
• Attitudes to reading;
• Self-confidence as a reader;
• Pleasure in reading in later life;
• General knowledge;
• Understanding of other cultures;
• Community participation;
• Insight into human nature and decision-making.
We hope that you will enjoy looking at our class blog to get a flavour of what we do day-to-day. You can find it here: http://mrsmarsh2016.mabscrossblog.net/
Remember: our door is always open should you wish to discuss any matters with a member of staff.
