Welcome to Year 3!
Your class teacher is Miss Atherton and we are also very fortunate to have a wonderful teaching assistant, Mrs Sammut.
In year three we aim to develop thinking skills and creativity through a mixture of independent learning and problem solving activities. We immerse our classrooms at the start of each topic to engage the children’s interests in their learning. Geography and history skills are developed during the year and the children are encouraged to apply these new skills by completing ‘Learning Log’ homework for each topic. In addition we will be going on exciting day trips, having school visitors and completing an ‘innovate class project’ at the end of each half term. Please see the newsletters below for an overview of the curriculum we will be following this year.
Throughout the year, we will develop pupils’ confidence through a class assembly, our Christmas production and participation in various sporting events and competitions.
Children will leave Year 3 with a secure understanding of the basic skills: times tables, key spellings, reading comprehension and handwriting. For more detail on the curriculum we will be following please see the links below. Also, we readily invite you to look at our class blog to get a flavour of what we do day-to-day.
Finally, remember our door is always open should you wish to discuss any matters with a member of staff.
