Myself and Mrs Moffatt, our teaching assistant, would like to welcome you to Year Two.
Year Two is a fun, exciting year that aims to provide children with meaningful learning. Throughout the year we will help the children to grow in confidence, progress in their learning and develop independence through the various activities and work the children will partake in. We immerse our classrooms at the start of each topic to engage the children’s interests in their learning and to build on the children’s creativity. In addition we will be going on exciting day trips, having school visitors and completing an ‘innovate class project’ at the end of each half term.
Throughout the year the children will explore a variety of interesting and exciting topics:
- Land Ahoy
- Muck, Mess and Mixtures
- Towers, Tunnels and Turrets
- Wriggle and Crawl
In Land Ahoy we sail across the world to discover interesting facts about famous pirates and read maps in a quest to discover treasure. Then, with a splat, pour, mix and stir we get our fingers mucky in the colourful, marvellous world of liquids, food and paint. Next, we get ready to invade and defend as we help to dig deep tunnels to save Rapunzel from the stone walls of a tall, tower. Finally, we put on our wellies and grab a magnifying glass and go on a minibeast hunt!
You can find further information on the curriculum that we will be following this year by looking at the half-termly newsletters. To find out what amazing work is currently happening in Year 2, please take a look at our blog page by following the link below.
Finally, our door is always open should you wish to ask any questions or discuss any concerns with a member of staff.
